About
We have put this site together to introduce the snood to you, the latest fashion accessory for the discerning shopper! Have you heard of a snood before? Whilst snoods are as varied as the flap of skin that hangs from a Turkey’s beak (good pub quiz knowledge!), something to do with fishing, part of a movie projector and a video game, 2 other meanings of the word caught our eye!
The first other meaning of snood seems like a bit of a fun one, with the meaning of ‘A net used by men to train their moustache into a desired shape and prevent it from getting into a disarray while they are sleeping’ (Wikipedia).
The serious, well semi anyway, meaning we are looking at on this site is the fashion accessory – a fashion snood if you like.
The concept has been around for a long time, since about the 8th century – anyway, you can see a full history of snoods at wikipedia.
The point of this is that the snood has been reborn recently, with many top fashion houses (for example Burberry), cottoning on to the fact that the scarf is sooo last year, and releasing a kind of circular scarf, with the name of snood. This was, we think, last season, so some other quality fashion houses, and clothing labels have got fashion snoods as part of their fashion accessories ranges. There are also a number of less well regarded labels that have come out with their own version of the snood, for men and women, which may be worth a look as well, due to the lower prices!
A word of warning, and in defence of the good old scarf – don’t discount them altogether, it seems that as the snood has come onto the scene, the scarf has taken a new twist with some shops, and can be worn to look like a snood, but in scarf format…we’re not sure why, but there are some great ones out there.
Anyway, get browsing, and get buying, some of our favourite snoods have come from:
